Wayne Adams as HRM's first black mayor; not only does he have a good track record in politics, he was also business man of the year in 2006, a community activist and an ardent environmentalist.

Wayne Adams would be an interesting candidate. Well spoken and has a reputation as a community builder and supporter.

In an earlier post, I voiced approval for Sue Uteck to run for Mayor, knowing she was backing Sheila Fougere.

Frankly, Wayne Adams would be a fantastic Mayor. First of all, he has integrity. Second, even the Tories and Ndippers admire and respect him. Third, he is a true consensus builder and he doesn't waste time about it. Fourth, he respects the people and truely believes in the concept of public service as an honour and a duty.

Where are all the business people (Karen Oldfield? Dennis Ryan? Kevin Hamm)?

The only reason he is the mayor is that the voters in this city are so apathetic. I believe the turnout for the last municipal election was around 50%. It's easy to win when only half the elegible voters show up. Municipal politics around here are so boring. Why? Because all Kelly wants to do is study issues. He needs to stand up and make a decision on his own. (Not like pulling support for the Commonwealth Games because the Province did). I might have respect for him if he can make a decision without consulting and studying it to death.

Time for Alexa McDonaugh to give up the Federal scene and return to the Socialist bosum of Halifax to lead us out of the darkness.

His first election win was because of frustration with Fitzgerald.
The second, maybe because people wanted to give him a chance to deliver..

Devenne is an embittered combatant from the blood scandal days. He lobbied the federal and provincial governments for compensation and was one of those who failed...left out by the criteria set for recompensing those affected. He now opposes any hint of 'frivolous' expenditures by government simply because he failed to attract any of their largesse to his own bank account.
We may have some empathy for his misfortune, but his definition of acceptable government funding has become so subjective and narrow that it defies any reasonable balance.

Waverly DeVenne won compensation and went on to win and help for dozens of others without reward

What about Bill Black? We need someone like that in there. Someone who has good business sense. Look what he did with Maritime Life bringing it from a small company to one of the biggestin North America maybe he can do the same with the HRM.

I wonder if they had to use their real names if they would be quite so mouthy. I fought for comoensation and received compensation being in the imaginary window that the government created. its amazing the total lack of facts that some people suffer from yet try to tell us how to run out lives.
