Kelly Has to go! 2007/08/29 01:20 Karma: -1
Just hearing this man talk on television or radio makes my head hurt. Just reading them in the paper isn't any better. He waffles on every decision he makes. He is not a leader. He does not inspire.

This city has so much potential, but having Kelly in office is hurting us.

Just consider the developement for downtown. The MidTown Tower is dead and the "Twisted Sister" project is on life support. His biggest accomplishmet was laying that natural gas pipe in the ground.

The biggest blunder was the Commonwealth Games. Leave it to Kelly to pull the plug. Fred MacGillvary and crew were doing just fine.

Speaking of Fred, Kelley mucked up his attempts to have another big concert in this city. He should just leave well enough alone.

I have more to say, but look forward to hearing other opinions on this.

"MacGillvary and crew" were doing nothing less than lining their own pockets at the public's expense. Peter Kelly was correct in pulling the carpet out from under them, and definately within his mandate as Mayor of Halifax for protecting the public purse from further harm. The fraud that was being commited by the games commitee was easily on the scale of the sponsorship scandal that ended the federal Liberal Party's hold on leadership in Canada. If you feel the need to contribute to Mr. MacGillivray and crew's lavish lifestyle choices feel free to do so with your own money. Don't volunteer mine.

As for mucking up concert performances, please note that although there was a contract signed by the city in 2006 with Mr. MacGillivray's Halifax Events to cause 2 or 3 major concert events on the Halifax Commons to happen in 2007, NOT ONE event was contracted, let alone held. Halifax Events was seemingly incapable of connecting with any major concert touring act management, hence I would suggest that the contract could be termed null and void. Peter Kelly stepped up to bat to provide the citizens of Halifax with what they were asking for, and I applaud him for that.

"GoodByeKelly" do you have any facts to base your statements on, or just a personal axe to grind with Mr. Kelly?
