DumpKelly.com will be pushing the province and the HRM to initiate online voting for the next municipal election set for October, 2008.
Interest as well as voter turnout in HRM municipal elections has reached alarming lows. Online voting offers a great opportunity to rekindle interest in municipal elections as well as participation.
More information on the campaign for online voting will be released in the near future.

Well, you have my vote! The fact is that technology exists to ensure online voting is accurate and secure. Go for it. We tend to get the government we vote for, or worse, the one we didn't vote for!!

Hello, I am the creator of the Facebook Group: NO Halifax Metro Transit Strike (general network/group search). We have 1,469 members, and growing - cooperating with this site and the Facebook Group: Dump Mayor Peter KellyOur Petition website, (we have over 1,246 names and comments to date...) http://nohalifaxmetrotransitstrike.bravehost.com/ will soon be updated to link to this site and FORCE the change that WE need. We need to find a way to reach more citizens, especially students, high school, college, university... most receptive to rallying for protest on change. THIS MUST REMAIN AN IMMEDIATE PROACTIVE PUSH FORWARD; the very moment we relax, sit back... WE LOSE! (If we sacrifice a little in time and effort, we gain so much more in strength and resolve. WE the PEOPLE who pay the salaries of those so elected, have been screwed over for far too long. Don't you think it's about time to ACT! NOW... let's share some good ideas and get this rolling.

The only way a strike will be avoided is if HRM caves in to the union's ridiculous demands. That would mean selling out the taxpayer once again. That is unacceptable. 2. We need a long, protracted strike that will significantly weaken the union's death grip on Metro Transit. The only way Transit will be able to progress will be if they can obtain the flexibility in scheduling that will enable them to respond to consumer's needs. A rigid union mentality prevents this. 3. We don't need any more wannabe student protesters in town. Clueless youth is called that for a reason and we have more than enough of that already. 4. You sound like an editorial writer for Workers World Daily. Relax a bit.

What a thing to say.... we need more youth involvement in this city because these old farts aren't doing a very good job in my opinion.

Our media coverage, 1800 named petition read in session, 300 phone calls to corporate transit, 1000 letters of protest... need I continue? We won! The media awarded us, the union awarded us. You are obviously one of those jaded, uneducated, bitter, coach potatoes who would rather troll boards, forums and e-zines in order to bitch at others for taking a stand. You are a joke... 'Must burn your a_ knowing that I will not return following this reply. Burn baby burn.
